Is it possible to get an internet connection on a pc via a decoder? Has anybody done such?

I saw an article of this and was wondering if it was fact or fiction. The guy claimed to be able to connect his pc to his tv decoder with an ethernet cable, cable modem, splitter and coaxial cable. In turn allowing him to access the internet on his pc via his decoder. I would like somebody to spread some light onto this. please if you have any info, I'd be really gratful. thanks
